In A Pet Shop, Joseph Sold 7/12 Of The Pets. Of His Remaining Pets 3/5 Are Dogs And The Rest Are Cats. What Fraction Of The Whole Pets Are Unsold Cats
In a pet shop, Joseph sold 7/12 of the pets. Of his remaining pets 3/5 are dogs and the rest are cats. What fraction of the whole pets are unsold cats?
Let c be the number of unsold catsunsold pets=total-sold pets
=12/12-7/12
=5/12
unsold cats=total unsold-sold dogs
=5/5-3/5
=2/5
Multiply both answers
c=5/12(2/5)
c=10/60
c=1/6
therefore 1/6 of the whole pets are unsold cats
